So this is a tough one to review because if you want to get away from the city and get out in nature, it's awesome. You can fish, you can hike, you can ride your bike, have a picnic, and if you are into it - tons of geocaches. Some flat fields too to play a pickup game of football or soccer.

I am moving up to this area so I wandered around, checking out the sights. I needed some place to bed down for the night, low cost. I ended up here at moon lake. Beautiful BEAUTIFUL place. Unfortunately, the campground was abandoned, closed indefinitely. Why, you ask. A local told me it was because people (you know who you are) THRASHED the place and it had become unmanageable. By the looks of it, I Believe that is the reason. What is wrong with people these days? They got no respect for Anything. Why? They got no shame and no respect. It's baffling and sad. This is a wonderful, beautiful place. I didn't stay because seeing how there was no camp host, I was scared to stay in my car overnight. See, I travel alone and a little old lady alone at night in the woods.... Hmmmm. No.
So, I give Moon lake itself 5 stars. The beauty, the quiet the fishing the location. The camping situation... No stars. Hopefully it will change in the future.
It's a great place to go fishing and enjoy nature
Decently Clean and Lots of Easy trails for kids. The bathrooms as of now are port a pottys but it beats getting a tick on your butt from peeing behind a tree so thumbs up for putting those in. It's a large area and Nice lake for fishing. Lots of water lilies as well. I must go back for more exploring! :)
The drawback is that once ownership of the park changed hands, the upkeep is minimal. The pool is gone, the snack stands are gone, and sometimes fields get overgrown. So if you want to do any of these activities, I recommend stopping by beforehand to see the state of things.
